BioSTAR LLC is an early-stage biotechnology research company focused on protein structure–function relationships and their relevance to therapeutic development. The company operates at the intersection of experimental biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, and computational modeling, developing research programs aimed at understanding complex molecular mechanisms and enabling safer, more targeted drug design strategies.

BioSTAR conducts research using integrated workflows that include protein modeling, molecular simulations, and analysis of experimentally derived datasets. These programs are designed to address biologically and medically relevant questions in enzyme function, membrane protein systems, and molecular interactions that are difficult to resolve using conventional approaches alone.

A central objective of BioSTAR is the generation of reproducible, publishable scientific results. Mature projects are prepared for submission to peer-reviewed journals to ensure external validation, scientific rigor, and long-term credibility within the research community.

BioSTAR was founded by Dr. Cesar Luna, a scientist with more than twenty-five years of experience in academic research across institutions including UC Berkeley, UCSF, Caltech, the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, and Vanderbilt University. His work spans biochemistry, structural biology, membrane proteins, and biophysical characterization, with long-term involvement in mentoring researchers at undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels.

To support the scalability and continuity of its research programs, BioSTAR maintains a structured internal training pathway for junior researchers and students. Participants receive instruction in:

• formulation of researchable scientific questions
• experimental and computational study design
• systematic literature analysis
• interpretation of peer-reviewed data

Following foundational training, qualified participants contribute directly to supervised research programs aligned with BioSTAR’s scientific objectives and may collaborate with external academic laboratories when appropriate.
